Re: Viceroy TDS 23 pillar drill - removing quill feed shaft?
Quick note to celebrate getting the damn thing off. After lots of abuse with a 3-legged puller, a hammer and various levers it eventually, and slowly, yielded. There weren't any hidden fasteners but a piece of the housing bore had broken off and welded itself to the quill feed shaft - very strange. ...

Re: Viceroy TDS 23 pillar drill - removing quill feed shaft?
Thanks, but I'd already had a look at those drawings. PD2-C has a cross section of the quill feed showing a circlip that mine doesn't have. This is a baffling problem, but I think I'll have to use a Dremel to saw through the spring housing along the hole axis so that I can split it off the feed shaf...

Viceroy TDS 23 pillar drill - removing quill feed shaft?
My Viceroy drill quill feed suddenly seized - fine one day and stuck the next. Now that I've removed the quill return spring and the grub screw that holds spring housing it seems that the quill feed shaft is seized into the return spring housing. I've tried coercion, heat and brutality but can not g...

Re: New project: Starturn 4 conversion to Mach3
Doh!You need to override the switch so that you can enable the drives in order to move the axis off the switch

Initially I was thinking of keeping a front panel manual option for the spindle control but I can't see that this would ever be needed with Mach3.
Thanks for your help.

Re: New project: Starturn 4 conversion to Mach3
I ended-up deciding to just reverse engineer the wiring and it turned-out to be a much simpler job than I expected, although I hadn't spotted the limit switch so working out where some wires went was a bit of a struggle. It all makes sense to me now EXCEPT: why is there a front panel switch to overr...

Re: New project: Starturn 4 conversion to Mach3
I've been through all the schematics I can find on the site and nothing seems to match, but inside the machine is identical to this one: https://www.denfordata.com/bb/download/file.php?id=104 ... it would save many hours of wire tracing if someone could point me at a diagram. The spindle drive now w...

New project: Starturn 4 conversion to Mach3
I've recently acquired a Starturn4 (s/n 24106B2, control s/n ST191186, date Nov/86) and will be converting it to Mach3. The first task is to get hold of the circuit diagrams from somewhere, but the diagrams here https://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=922 don't seem to match my machine. A...
