Re: Router motor not turning on - again

Hi Guys,

just to touch bases again, have now had the router running pretty much full time for 2 days without missing a beat. Have no idea why the fuse blew or why the power in the building dropped out. Time will tell I guess.

Until next time

Re: Router motor not turning on - again

Hi Guys, sorry for not getting back to you earlier, has been a very hectic two weeks. Out of a staff of 5, 3 have been out with the HSC practical marking, keeping the place running has been a bit of a nightmare. Still have finally managed to get some new fuses and will be into school this weekend to...

Re: Router motor not turning on - again

The router is a Porter and we have had issues with the brushes in the past. In fact that was one of the first things that I looked at. Didn't think though to blast some air through to blow out the carbon dust. It's going to have to wait a couple of days as tomorrow is our regional F1 comp. and I won...

Re: Router motor not turning on - again

Bradders,

yes it is a blown fuse, labelled as FS1, which, from the diag. that you just sent me is a slow blow type. Any ideas as to why?

Router motor not turning on - again

Hello from Ian in Australia, Seems you guys only hear from me when I've got a problem. Once again the router motor is not being turned on, started doing this on Friday. Machined one car successfully, just started a second car when the power in the whole building dropped out. Whether an issued with t...

Re: Computer upgrade issues & error

Hi guys, just an update on our server upgrade and issues with QuickCAM. Nothing resolved as yet, this is due to a variety of reasons, not the least of which is having the IT boys being called off by the boss to do more "important" jobs. However, will keep prodding them and see what happens. On an ot...

Computer upgrade issues & error

Hi Guys, Ian from Menai H.S. - Sydney Australia. We've recently suffered a global upgrade of the file server at school and are now running under Windows XP Service Pack 3. This is causing hiccups with running QuickCAM 2D (Version 1.8.5.344) and QuickCAM 3D V3 (Version 3.5.0.61), actually they won't ...

Re: Router Motor Dies mid machine run

Apologies for not getting back to you earlier, I've been sick with the flu over the last few days and have spent most of my time in bed. However, problem resolved!! As it turns out a modification made by Carb-a-Tec who services these machines for REA was the fault. Background story. When the machine...

Re: Router Motor Dies mid machine run

Successfully cut one complete car this morning, started on second car and got about half way before router motor stopped. Have been in contact with REA late yesterday, they supplied an exchange router motor later today, bench tested it (ran OK) before installing it into the CNC mill. No luck!! Axis ...

Router Motor Dies mid machine run

Hi, Menai High (NSW, Australia) here again with now another problem. Just a reminder we are using the Compact1000 and have upgraded VirtualMilling to version 5.3. The router motor itself is stopping mid run. Yesterday, successfully cut one complete side of a car, but only barely started into cutting...

Re: Compact 1000 not homing

Greetings all, just on a week now that we're back from London, think I'm over the jet lag. Got to the CNC machine yesterday, removed each switch in turn and blasted them out using a can of "Dust Off". Re-intsalled and powered up and every thing seemed to work. Ran a job through this morning, SUCCESS...

Re: Compact 1000 not homing

Sorry guys, it's been a day of stress outs, stuff ups, angst and dummy spits. Consequently I haven't manage to get anywhere near looking at the CNC mill. Don't know if tomorrow is going to be any better.

Re: Compact 1000 not homing

Morning all, 8am Sydney time here. Re-read what I wrote last night, especially that last sentence, wouldn't have thought that a glass of wine would have hit me that badly. Will be in at school later today, I'm assuming the axis fuse you refered to is the single fuse on the board with the three conne...

Re: Compact 1000 not homing

Sorry guys for not getting back earlier, have been very busy with getting my F1 Team ready for the International Comp. Have looked at the pc boards in the machine, the board with the 7-segment display DOES NOT have a fuse on it - of any description. Unless there is a different fuse shape or body tha...

Re: Compact 1000 not homing

Am usually fair concious of the dust build up issue around the switches and make a point of vacuuming them off. Is it possible for dust to get INTO the switch housing? Currently running V5.14.0.364 of VR Milling

Compact 1000 not homing

Am using Compact 1000, have been having this problem on and off for some time (months). But seems to be happening more frequently. No apparent reason as to why and can be any one of the three axis not just refusing to home but actively moving in the opposite direction - usually very very slowly. Can...

eceeding Y axis limits

Appologies, am using Compact 1000, VR Milling version 5.14, QuickCam3D version 3.5.0.61. The program runs fine in the QuickCam simulation, it is when I try to run it in the simulation in VR Milling that I get the error messages. I have tried changing the raster angle and all I succeeded in doing was...
