Re: TU150U in need of TLC
It's looking good.
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Things have moved on a bit in the last few weeks.
The spindle cooling fan was duff so a new fan and mounting had to be made.
The spindle is now running sweet up to about 4800rpm but I have restricted it to 3500 which is the max for my chuck.
Axis motors are in and tuned to 15000mm/min rapid.
Turret is connected and working the only thing I had to do was fit some new dampers in to it as the originals were crumbling to dust.
Main cabinet next and the air system for the tailstock and part catcher.
Then once all that is in I will tidy up the wires.

Looks really nice! Good work
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Almost there, last few things to do glass in windows, coolant, tidy the wiring, put some stickers on and its done.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Not posted for a while so here are some pictures of the new tool holders and the through coolant modification I decided to add, all the parts have been made on my Triac and the TU150. I also modified the 3 original tool blocks that came with the machine.
Here is a link to the machine making the small brass nozzle.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Nice work, the machine looks amazing!!
Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Great work on the through coolant system, could you please post some photos/details of where the coolant feeds into the rear of the turret?
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
All the detail is in the TOE80 manual
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Looking good.
One question, see the plate that is sandwiched between the cross-slide and turret (the one with the two grubscrews to secure the cover that moves with the X-axis), did you happen to have it off?
If I can't get the bits to fix my TOE80, the smallest turret I've found is 50mm centre height (TOE80 is 40). I'm wondering if it would be feasible to replace that plate with a thinner one, or whether there is more to that plate than to simply space up the turret.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Its just a flat spacer plate with 4 hole to mount it to the cross slide and the holes for the turret and a slot and 2 grub screws for the rear cover. See picture from before its clean up.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Thanks for that.
That gives me an option if I can't get my turret working again.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC
What is wrong with your turret?
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
I had a slight mishap setting up a new tool, so one off the internal planet gears is now a rather expensive jigsaw.
I'm just waiting to hear if the parts are still available, and if they are, how many limbs/organs they're going to cost
Re: TU150U in need of TLC
Here is a picture of the external tool coolant nozzle.
The only issue I had was it firing coolant down the spindle bore so I have a plastic bung in the back end now.
The lathe is working great and I am happy with how its turned out.
