QuickCAM 3D

Post by juli » Wed 24 Jan , 2007 17:37 pm

Received this question from a customer --- Please Advise.

We have created an F1 car in Inventor 11, opened it up in the QuickCAM3D software, and created a toolpath which posts as an .fnc file. We are not using Denford mills, but instead, a Stepper Techno-Isel DaVinci 3-axis mill. The program we use to send our gcode to the mill accepts only .ncd files. Is QuickCAM 3D compatible with this Mill or is there a post processor available? Is there a way to convert an .fnc file to .ncd?

Quick CAM 3D and PRO have built in Post Processors.

At the last page of the wizard select the desired post processor before you click post.

By default a Denford FNC file will be created.

In the UK the Techno Isel machine is marketed as an EDUCAM machine. Select the EDUCAM Mill post processor.

I think this will create a compatable file for the Techno. I also note that the file extension created is an ncp with this post. This may be an error  we will look into it but if you just rename the file as *****.ncd it should work.

Try it out :!: :!: :!:

If the file does not work we can develop post processors :D Just provide a sample program file in the format that runs your machine which has a spindle start and stop, a tool change and some feed, rapid line and arc moves.
