Updating software

Hi guys,
Not knowing DOS that well, how do you update the software.
I have a starturn 5, and had to swap its hard drive to another PC.
Success it fires up but when running fanucsld. It runs
Comes up with some dates and so then says RS232 disconnected, keyboard disconnected and the code comes up and aborts program.
I assume I need to configure the com ports being in a newer PC but question is how?
I will rebuild PC again securing hard drives and so on
Any help appreciated
