MicroTurn and MicroMill upgrade

Post by Roger Tardif » Fri 16 Sep , 2011 1:22 am

Microturn lathe built in 1996 was upgrade with an EPROM and VR cnc Turning V: 1.19.2.425 OCT. 2003 5th Edition, 710009
Micromill built in 1996 was upgrade with VR cnc Mill V: 2.31.3.951 Jan 2004 5th Edition 700104.

Which lathe and Mill Cam software will worked best with these machines?

Thank you

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Our QuickTurn 2D Design should work ok with the Microturn and VR turning - although you won't be able to thread cut (even if you have a spindle encoder fitted)
I say should because we are unable to test older machines (with the older control card) with the latest software, however, QuickTurn does not use any obscure G codes and you can configure it not to use CSS (constant surface speed) or feed per rev if you don't have any spindle speed feedback.

QuickCAM 2D Design will also produce code that will run the Micromill on version 2 VR Milling.
QuickCAM Pro for 3D work sholud also be compatible but machining times will be slow due to the older software, RS232 comms and control card.

If you send an example of what you'd like to make I can create some g-code you can try on the machines.
