The answer is yes it is possible to retrieve the licence file from installed software, but it depends on the product you have.

For the following products refer to the attached Technical Article.

The following older products have a “FLASH.INI” Licence Key
VR TURNING (v1.17 and after is able to read the new style seckey.tff files - see below)
VR MILLING v2
LATHECAM DESIGNER
MILLCAM DESIGNER
QUICKCAM 3D

The Flash artical above refers to manually transfering the licence from the floppy disc to the computer.

If you have lost the floppy but the software is already installed, simply go to the relevant directory on the PC say "c:\program files\denford\vr turning\vrturn.ini" open the file with notepad and save the flash lines as in the highlighted image. Save as a backup.

When you come to reinstall the software you can repeat the procedure above and paste the backed up lines of text into the apropriate ini file. :D

If you have newer products the Licence file is a SECKEY.TFF

The following Newer products have a “SECKEY.TFF” Licence Key
VR MILLING 5
QUICKCAM 3D V3
QUICKCAM PRO
QUICKCAM 4D
QUICKCAM 2D DESIGN
QUICKTURN 2D DESIGN
LASERCAM 2D DESIGN
VR Turning (v1.17 onwards)

The Licence disc contains just one file called “SECKEY.TFF”
When the licence is installed during software installation, it will be automatically copied into the relevant directory

C:\Program Files\Denford\VRMilling5
C:\Program Files\Denford\QuickCAM4D
C:\Program Files\Denford\QuickTURN2D
C:\Program Files\Denford\QuickCAM2D
C:\Program Files\Denford\LaserCAM2D
C:\Program Files\Denford\VRTurning

To install the license manually you can simply copy the file to the relevant directory.

To backup the license file, go to the directory where the software is installed and make a copy of the file.

CARE MUST BE TAKEN AS THE KEY NAME IS THE SAME FOR ALL SOFTWARE PRODUCTS SO THEY MUST BE STORED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS TO AVOID OVERWRITING THE PREVIOUS SAVED FILES

If you happen to have a some seckey.tff files and don't know what software each of the license files is for then do the following:

Run the latest version of any software and click Update License on the 1st loading screen:
