VR CNC Milling v. 5** and DXF / DWG

Post by Benny » Thu 19 Mar , 2009 20:32 pm

Customer writes in...
I have a denford micromill we just updated the control software to VR CNC Milling v. 5**. I have been importing DXF and DWG files into the mill to create milling programs but for some reason the importing process seems to have a glitch… it will not import and curved lines or circles. Software is a fresh install and still problems.

Can you help??

This sounds like a problem with the DXF file that has been created.

What package has been used to create the files.

There will probably be a range of DXF formats available when saving.

If it is AutoCAD try saving in V13 or 14.

When V5 installs it makes a directory of DXF files in the My Documnets/DENFORD/Drawing files folder

Can you try importing one of these sample files?

If this works then the problem is with the DXF export from CAD.

If you can attach a sample file that doues not work it would help.

I think I am having a similar problem. If I create a .dxf from Pro/Desktop that has features that were duplicated in the original design then when I import it into VR Milling then there are random lines on the drawing. If all the original design was dran fresh (boring) then VR Milling works fine.

This may be a problem with Pro Desktop.

Can you try importing into any other Cad package to see if the problem is in the output file or import into VR Milling?

If you dont have anything else to test it in send us the dxf to look at.

Have you downloaded and installed the lattest version of VR Milling?
