Two machines one computer

Post by illmakemyown » Wed 07 May , 2008 6:14 am

I would like to know if I can run a Micromill 2000 using VR Milling, and a Microlathe using VR Turning on the same computer. The computer only has one 9 pin port. Thanks

I'm sure there's a post on the forum about this but i cannot find it, so ....

Setting up 2 machines to run on 1 PC
5.12.06
If you want to run 2 of the same type of machines from one PC, then you will have to create a new machine copy of say, Compact 1000.ini
in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Denford\ConfigM
edit the machine list.ini in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Denford and add the new machine
also, alter the NODE under [Communications] section for the second machine from 2 to 3

In C:\Program Files\Denford\VRMilling5:-

copy VRMilling5.exe twice
rename them (eg, machine 1.exe AND machine 2.exe)
copy VRMilling5.ini
rename them (eg, machine 1.ini AND machine 2.ini)

Create shortcuts to these new EXEs (on the dekstop)

(the Ini files will now be copied to the users directory when you run each exe for the first time - if you have tried to run the EXE without a valid INI file, it will have already done this so you will have to delete the ini file from docs+settings\username\app data\denford)

Run each exe in turn, select the machine you want for each shortcut
Open offsets and do a menu - save as and save each offset file eg, as Machine 1.MOF
Then, using advanced mode on the offset menu, do a "load all" and pick Machine 1.MOF

Close vrmilling5 and see if the machine and offset file is correct

You will then need to alter the NODE id on one of the machines from 2 to 3 using the *latest* easy upgrader-
Connect USB to ONLY ONE machine at this time - this will be node 3 - the other will stay as node 2
run easyupgrader
click check my machine
right click the image
select advanced...
password is dave
change nodeid to 3

change it in the paramters if not already done so...
run vrmilling shortcut for this machine (eg machine 2):
goto menu setup -> setup machine parameters
password is denny
make sure its the correct machine
goto communications section
change node from 2 to 3
close vrmilling
