Techno DaVinci Stepper and Quickcam

Post by Benny » Thu 04 Dec , 2008 6:04 am

Teacher is attempting to create a 3D F1 car using Inventor;
Take the saved STL file and use QuickCam 3.7 to create an NCD file;
To then take the NCD file and cut the car out on a DaVinci Stepper using the Techno G Code interface

Everytime QuickCam is used to create an NCD file using the Techno-G-Code post processor, using the same settings, a different result occurs.

My first question is, what is the last modified date on the latest version of the post processor for the Techno DaVinci Stepper using the G Code interface?
Secondly, the typical issues seen with the NCD files created:
is the stepper skips steps assigned to it (example: the preview shows the mill moving on the X, then the Y axis, then diagonally; but in actuality, the mill will follow the first move, the second, and completely skip the third
no matter what settings are placed as far as orientation of the material in QuickCam, they do not match the expected axis on the mill
Is there anything else you all can think that might be going on here?

The latest file date for Techno-G-Code.ppl in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Denford\Posts is 26th Jan 2007

Can you tell if the file being created is different each time you post it ?
Its very difficult for us here to tell whats going on - we've never seen this machine before.
There may be some other G commands which need to be inserted to make each move finish properly, but we can only go off information provided by actual users of these machines

I have output 3 files from QuickCAM 3Dv3 and they are all identical, so guess that the irregular behaviour is with the machine or the way its being used maybe ?
