Thread cutting on Mirac lathe

Post by Wheezy » Thu 13 Nov , 2008 0:18 am

I'm having problems getting a good quality thread and I've been playing about with it, but to no avail. I was wondering if the spindle speed and feedrate overide controls need to be on a certain setting to ensure that they are synchronised, or does the software take care of that automatically?

I've left the tool data set on a default setting and wondered if I need to change anything there?

Any help gratefully received,

Wheezy

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

The feed is locked into the speed of the spindle, so override should have no effect whilst the thread cut is in progress.

What is the problem with the threads ? Is the surface finish poor ?
The Mirac should give you good results as long as everything is tight, tool sharp and surface speed correct for the material etc...
