Specifying a centre profiling tool in Quickturn

Post by mitip » Mon 08 Aug , 2016 21:01 pm

I'm sure this is been answered elsewhere, but what is the best way to put a centre profiling tool into the tool database?
It seems only to have space for left or right hand turning tools. The only way I found could specify it was as a neutral threading tool but it chooses not to use it for profiling. The insert size is 35° symmetrical about the centreline of the tool.
Many thanks if anyone can point me to the answer.

The QuickTurn 2D Design CAM package has been written to create programs simply.

The procedure the CAM carries out to create a cutting profile is written around the standard tools in the library. While you can redefine the tool tip angles and sizes for the turning and parting tools this will then change the code produced adding another tool would make no difference as it would not be used by the CAM package.

You could try altering the geometry of the RH turning tool tip to simulate the Neutral tool?
