Hi,
I am a student at National University Of Science and Technology. We have got CIM installed by Denford. The ASRS of CIM of serial number'AsRS E00615' is not working.
We are facing problem in troubleshooting of Asrs and folowing errors arise during its usage,
1.Whenever we 'HOME' in X and Y directions,it get homed, but when we home it in Z direction it some time donot Home at all and some time it get free motioned in Z direction and we have to push the emergency button to stop it reaching its maximum limits in -ve Z direction.
2.After reaching its maximum limit in -ve Z direction it no longer home in X and Y direction and it commonly give error "Drives not enabled".
3.Some time it gives the error "Asynchronous axis error".
4.In teach manu it does not move in any axis that is X y and Z axis.
Please guide us in troubleshooting these errors.

Hi,

It sounds like you have a problem with the Z axis motor Drive or the cables in between.

Once any one of the drives trip then the other axes will also be knocked off as the unit goes into E-Stop.

I would check the motor connections are all tight and the cables to the motor are not damaged.

I would also check that the Z axis is mechanically free.

Also look at the axis drive when the drive trips there will be some indication on the drive as to the fault either by a flashing light sequence or alarm display. I am not sure what motors you have fitted but photos here would help.

There have been various drive types used on the ASRS so photos of the drive + motor + electrical cabinet will be helpful

From PM me, i have not received any answers to the LED Codes below..............

An "Asynchronous axis error" means that the ASRS drives are disabled. Open the ASRS control box and switch on the isolator and wait for the controller to power up. What is the Number / Letter on the Green 7 segment display? and what are the status LEDs on the 3 Baldor Microflex axis drives ?

Axis drive LED codes

GREEN - AC power OK, Drive enabled
RED - AC power OK, Drive not enabled, no errors
RED / GREEN (Alternating) - AC Power not present, no errors
GREEN (Flashing) - Firmware download in progress
RED (Flashing) - An error has occurred. The number of flashes (Followed by a pause) indicates which error has occurred

1 DC bus overload voltage
2 IPM (Integrated power module) trip
3 Overcurrent trip
4 Overspeed trip
5 Feedback trip
6 Motor overload (i squared t) trip
7 Overtemperature trip
8 Drive overload (it) trip
9 Following error trip
10 Error input triggered
11 Phase search error
12 All other errors, including :internal supply error, encode supply error, parameter restore failure

I would get the energy chain that supports the Y axis motor and signal etc cabled repaired or you may get some broken wiring

Turning on the isolator with the door open would be a good start, that's if your health and safety regulations allow you to do so.

When you power up what do the LED's on the 3 drives do? (What color & if they flash how many times?)

You should be able to turn the isolator circled to the on position with the door open so you can check for errors on the drives.

Some times the axes motor work correctly. but after a very short time they give the following no of led blinks(red color) means error..
X axes drive= 8 led blinks (drive over load)
Y axes drive= 5 and some times 8 led blinks (feedback trip and drive overload)
z axes drive= some times 6 and some times 8.. (motor over load and drive over load)

8 blinks are most common and most seen high priority target in all axes.. (drive overload)

Also if possible can you please provide with any manual for the ASRS and infact for the whole Denford CIM machine. Thanks.
