Hi, I drew up a bottle in Inventor (set it to Metric mm and BSI standard first) exported as a binary STL as attached.

When I opened it in Quickcam pro it says it was drawn in imperial and not metric asking me if this was correct. I click no and it imports it 1/10 of its original size (40mm = 4mm) I tried this several times.

If I agree it was drawn in imperial 40mm becomes something like 60mm, can't remember exactly the ratio.

So with a bit of messing about I was able to get the item machined out although I had to increase the size to 1000% in quickcam pro.

I have never worked with Autodesk Inventor before (always Pro desktop) for 3D work and we are trying to move over to Inventor as a replacement.

I then decided to have a go at using the inverted option in Quickcam Pro so I could machine a hollow in a block as a demo to the kids about how it would be possible to Produce a mock bottle and a packaging insert for it.
I clicked the inverted option adjusted the scale and used the rest of the settings I had used to produce the bottle half. All the machine did was pass back and forth over the surface of the block then cut a single slot in the middle of the block.

The cutter is a 6mm ball nose, 45mm flutes and 50mm length.

Could some one have a look at the files and tell me what is going wrong?

I have just realised I didn't pull the FNC files for the bottle positive and negative, I will load them up tomorrow. FILES NOW ADDED

Inventor defaults to output in cm so you need to change the inventor settings to mm for it to be the right size.

The cut plane is set to 1.5mm so this would limit what could be made. The whole problem is probably down to the scaling of the stl issue

I did see something about mm and CM, that was a thought I had had so I did try exporting both with the same result. I will run through it again tomorrow, I must have missed something. When I ran through the steps I selected the cut plane to be half height so I don't understand why that has come out so small.

Ill have another go in the morning.
