Converting from Denstep Boards

If anybody has retrofitted a Micromill 2000 to a new Win7 PC w/o serial connections how did you do it?

I am a middle school teacher that inheirited 3 machines with serial/DOS Interfaces. I am just looking to get the motors moving but have no computers old enough to run the original software. All of my PC's are also lacking 3 1/2" drives as well so I cannot even load the old software and try to run it in a DOS shell.

I was looking at a Mach3 USB Motion Controller as a replacement but thought I would post the board before jumping in over my head. Thanks in advance for any insights.
