Help - 96 Way Din connetions for common anode control card

Post by bpmsl » Mon 28 Oct , 2013 17:00 pm

Hi Folks,
I've been merrily working towards a usbcnc conversion for my Novamill and may have come across a snag. The control card I have uses common anode connections i.e. the +5v is fixed / common and the ground is active (http://www.planet-cnc.com/faq/driver_opto/) to drive opto isolated inputs to the stepper drivers.

I'm guessing the connections as per viewtopic.php?f=54&t=2264 are for common cathode as they only have one ground point for the two inputs?

So either I'm hoping that there are separate grounds for each of the stepper drivers on the denstep board to allow me to wire to them common anode, or I could put in my own opto-isolator chip (http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/level5/modul ... 263239.xml) driven from my controller board with the output connected from vcc to each step / dir signal pin respectively.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Cheers
Barry M
