ORAC spindle encoder and help

Post by Ziggy001 » Mon 21 Jan , 2013 23:18 pm

:delirious:
Guys can anyone shine a light on a spindle problem
I have a mach3 Orac which ran OK but now has developed a faullt in the spindle speed feedback
eadIf I programme 1000rpm the actual speed shows 3003 rpm. It seems that the spindle is turning a outt the correct speed but feedback is way out and therefore the thread programme wont work
what should I see at the encoder as far as output - it has 2 SPX2001-1 opto sensors on the board and one long slot and 100 small slots on the encoder wheel on spindle

Has anyone got a spare encoder board???

I have a full set of boards from the original Orac - let me know if you need one and we can work something out
Thanks

A reply from myself!!
Found the fault - no +5v power to the encoder gnd and +5v

Marmelised my phone charger and supplied +5v to pin and gnd - started up adjusted the encoder and bingo up came the actual revs indication about 23 revs higher than programmed. Checked for feedback and revs dropped off along with me inputting differing figures

Went to simple thread wizard and away it went
