VICEROY TDS / 5 / PL belt tensioning system

Post by bradders » Thu 19 Apr , 2007 13:38 pm

Request: I have been given a VICEROY TDS / 5 / PL dating from about
1963!!
Works perfectly [testament to the build quality!!!] Only one slight
problem...the belt tensioning system is in bits and I cannot fathom
out how it works! I know it is' door open, lever down, tesion off.
Lever up tension on, door closes. But I cannot see how it does it
with the bits that I have got. Have you got a drawing, sketch or pic
you could send me? I know it is clutching at straws, but.....

Hi

I have no idea what a TDS 5 looks like, but here are some images of my TDS 1/1 G.B.L belt tightening mechanism. Maybe similar to yours.

:D :D :D

Many thanks for that. It is exactly what I needed. It is identical to mine, apart from the missing threaded bar and the bit where it fastens to the actuating bar / arm. That will be saturdays little project.

Mine was made in 1963 and sold to a school in Oxford. A friends Father bought it 3 years ago from a machine tool suppliers[which I put him on to]

He passed away a few weeks ago and his son said 'that lathe...if you can move it you can have it!'

Keep turning
Trimix...? It's the future, I've tasted it!
