Viceroy Sharpedge TDS 12 / 16

Post by Merlin » Thu 21 Aug , 2014 19:43 pm

Hello,

My Sharpedge is showing signs of wear on the main bush at the top of the gearbox, does anybody know if they are available?
A long shot I know but....

Thanks , Merlin

Hi Merlin,

I think it's very unlikely that you'll find a spare - but hopefully there is a drawing of it showing the original dimensions.
Have you found a part / drawing number yet - either in a spares diagram or assembly drawing / parts list?

Hello Andy,

I cant find a diagram of the part, the nearest is a ref no for the gearbox drawing that I have not got, the ref no is DRG SH5008A .
Do you know if that is listed anywhere ?
I suppose I could remove the bush and get one made but I thought I would ask first.

Thanks for your fast response.

Cheers, Merlin

Merlin,

I may have found the answer for you - see this post.

Looks like it could be a standard Oilite bush after all -available from any good bearing supplier.

Hello Andy,

I have just rebuilt the Sharpedge and it is now wobble free !

In the end I had some new bushes made as the old ones were passed it, I might look into buying some off the shelf ones for the future.

It still cuts square on the plane side but not on the chisel side ( I made up a template for the chisel side ) its not a big deal as you need to set them up any way.

Thanks for your help, Merlin
