VLS 6.60 doesnt remember the calabration settings

Post by 170oliver » Mon 21 Nov , 2011 15:51 pm

Our laser cutter was working fine last week and is only a few months old. It’s a VLS6.60
When you turn the machine on and start up the software it doesn’t know where the Z axis is. So each time it turns on you need to lower the base with the Z Home button then raise it up with the calibration tool then calibrate the cutting table.

Does anyone know why this is?

I have done the usual checks of nothing being left in the machine its all clean. I’ve put a new battery in, just in case that has anything to do with it but still no luck in the machine remembering where the cutting table is.

The 9volt battery is just for the thermal alarm.

It may just need the Z axis recalibrating.

Is the Enable AUTO Z ticked on the sytem page?

Yep the auto Z is ticked. If you recalibrate the Z axis it works find but as soon as the machine turns off and on you have to go through the whole thing again.

Do you home the Z axis on power up?

The focal height value should be saved to the Laser CPU. Are you setting the focal height correctly?

1. Make sure that the Z axis (Honeycomb bed) has been homed.
2. Jog the Honycomb bed up, until the white dowel stetting tools sloping surface, is just sitting under the black anodised plate that holds the Lens and No 3 mirror.
2. In the SYSTEM TAB select the calibrate button in the CUTTING TABLE section, to recalibate.
3. Log out and back in to the Versa Laser software.
4. Home the Z axis
5. Jog the Z axis up until the read out equals zero.
6. If the white dowel stetting tools sloping surface, is just sitting under the black anodised plate that holds the Lens and No 3 mirror., then the focal height has been set and saved correctly.
