Materials table not coming up

Post by tecteach » Tue 10 May , 2011 12:14 pm

We have had to install a new hard drive in the PC that runs our VLS4.6 versalaser. The drivers has been re-installed and we can communicate with the machine but two problems :

1) The bed will not go down

2) We have lost all our materials

Can you advise how we can get these back please ?
Many Thanks
Why did I choose this profession, cos it aint for the money !

Bed will not go down.....
1. Does the screen show the green lines that are usually associated with homing the Z axis ?
2. Does the Z axis stepper motors make any noise ?

Lost materials .....
1. Is your Laser set as the default printer ?
2. When you press the big green button on the Versa Laser software, to start the cutting process, is the Windows printer window coming up with the PROPERTIES button? if so select it and the material list should appear.

Note !!!!! It will best to re set / check the focal height of the lens with the white dowel setting tool

Have you installed & enabled the Extraction Alarms?

The extraction alarms are the second option on the LaserCAM 2D Design CD.
1. Run start off CD
2. Click on Configure Fume extraction alarms.
3. Click Configure.
4. Tick Enable Extract Alarms & Home Z on Power-Up, then OK & OK to exit.
Turn off pc to set.

The Material Database needs to have read/write access to 2 folders on the C drive. They are both in the Program Files directory & called ULS & ULSB from memory. The easiest way to check is to try as the administrator first.

Regarding the Z have you ticked Auto Z on the System Tab.
The settings for the Z axis are stored on the VLS CPU so you should not need to reset them.

Can you make the following checks first ........

1. Make sure you have got power going on to your laser via the kettle plug
2. Check that the 2 x 5.0 Amp fuses in the little drawer next to the kettle plug socket have not blown.
3. Do the X and Y axes Home?
4. What version of software are you running?
5. If you are not running version 5.28.52.2 then get a copy of this from our website
http://www.website.denford.ltd.uk/suppo ... -downloads
6. Once installed do not select the "UPGRADE SOFTWARE" option, lets see if we can get up and running on this version first.
