Engrave video iPod back plate on VLS2.30?

Post by psihog » Tue 02 Oct , 2007 1:19 am

We mostly use the system for glass with just the preset setting so I'm a complete newb doing anything else:)
How do I etch back of my video ipod? I'm using the v2.13.17 software with material database. Tried aluminum and bare metal at default. It goes thru the motion, but doesn't even scratch the surface.. ipod back plate is stainless steel I think.. Does anyone have experience with ipods and VersaLaser? thanks.

You will need to use a metal marking compound.

C02 Lasers will not mark metal. You can burn away paint or anodising but it will not mark stainless.

As martin says you can use the marking paste. The laser fuses this into the surface of the material and the finish is very professional and permanant.
