FANUC TRIAC SERIAL COM Error

Post by UWaterRob » Thu 08 Aug , 2019 12:18 pm

Hello guys,

I'm really sorry to bother you, but I hope you can help me ...
We have a FANUC TRIAC MILL and a CYCLONE LATHE.

The guy that was working here left and deleted all the parameters and blanked the machines in a way that they didn't worked at all, and I had to manually enter all of them.

Thankfully, the CYCLONE is now up and running, after several iterations with help from ideas from this Denford forum.

However, the TRIAC 0M is running, the CNC is working perfectly (axis' motors, spindle and manual programming), but the RS232 has a problem that I am not able to solve. The programs can't be uploaded or downloaded and when I try to upload a program through the CIMCO software interface, it gives an RS232 error immediately.

Don't you have any idea for helping me troubleshooting this?

The machine specs are the following:

Model: TRIAC FANUC
Serial NO: EO4157
Despatch Date: November 1992
Export NO 4157
Serial NO of Electronics: 2050745

FANUC Series O-MC
Type: A02B-0098-B511

Thanks a lot in advance.

Cheers

It may be worth comparing the parameters against the Cyclone.

This link should help identify the relevant parameters.

Hello,

@Martin, as you told me, I have compared all the "RS232 parameters" with the Cyclone ones.
However, even changing so the become more alike (the only one that I have changed was the 0002), the CNC still gives an error if I try to download or upload a program.
Also, the parameters that were in the "RS232 parameters" are aligned with old ones downloaded from the machine when it was working.

Now, from what I have been reading, the problem can be in the RS232 ICs, specifically the SN75188N and SN75189AN, that could be burnt.
Do you think this is what could be causing this error?

Attached, I send two images from the CIMCO error as well.

Thanks again for all the help.
Cheers

Not sure on this now.

Are you using the same lead to connect to both machines?

If you send a program to the mill does the Fanuc show any errors?

First of all, let me apologize for the delay in replying, but I was on vacation and didn't see the post.

Answering @Martin, I have shifted the cables, so the only possible explanation will be on the CNC's serial COM side.

If I send any program, it does not show any error on the Fanuc, but it shows the error that I posted before.

Regards
