Possible Bearing Gone on Spindle
the spindle is making a really horrible squealing noise, anyone got any photos or tips for getting to the bearings?

You need to remove the collar with the top support bearing. You should be able to lift it off by jacking it with screws. You will need to remove the motor & then the pulley to gain access to tab nut & washer holding the bearings.

I did wonder that, so screw some screws in the holes to raise the circular column?

like a tit I also broke the switch for the ATC, anyone know of an exact replacement?

It would have been fitted with a sensor originally but it looks like it has been modified to a standard micro switch which most suppliers sell.

Might as well do a full service whilst it's in bits, do we know what belt it is between the motor and spindle.

I've just come across the same issue on my triac, squeaky and just generally an unhappy sound coming from my spindle, so i thought i would investigate.
when i rotate by hand in the direction its last turned, it feels somehow notchy but not, its very hard to describe the feeling, but at the end of the day it shouldn't be like that. i went to remove the toothed pulley that drives the spindle to access the top of the bearing (after i removed the DC motor, drive belt and top plate), i removed the 2 locking grub screws of the toothed drive pulley, gave it a wiggle and it does not seem to want to budge. i did not want to be too aggressive with it incase i did some damage elsewhere, is there a "proper" way to remove this? is it heat shrunk into place? i.e. heated up till it expands enough to slide on then once cooled it tightens around the spindle?
also are there ways to upgrade the spindle on the Triac other than just higher rated bearings? if possible while I'm at this repair stage i feel i might aswell "beef it up" wherever i can and just generally improve the spindle rigidity somewhat.
i will be getting a 2.2kw spindle motor for it later in the year. and increase the spindle speed to 7500rpm. so i will get bearings to suit. i may get ceramic bearings but not sure if thats overkill as they are SUPER expensive
