Problem with Router 2600 Pro

Post by griffno1 » Tue 28 Apr , 2009 14:54 pm

We have a Router 2600 Pro, the computer is a Pentium 4 3Ghz with 500Mb ram and 20 Gb of free disc space, running QuickCAM pro and VR Milling v.5.26.0.452.
We are experiencing a problem whereby at random points in certain programs the machine suddenly shifts x or z axis (not seen it happen in y axis) this is catastrophic if it occurs in Z as often the head will suddenly plunge through the workpiece into the vacuum bed. If it happens in X there is a change in tone of the axis drive (almost like a grating noise) and the the machine will offset by an undetermined amount either + or - and continue to machine.
This has been an occasional problem in the past but is now becoming more frequent. We are aware of the problem with the limit switches sticking and endeavour to keep these clean but the problem still occurs.
The macine serial number is H07383 and is under warranty until July 2009.
Do you have any advice or should I request a vsit under the terms of the warranty

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

This sounds like:
A build up of dust somewhere jamming the slides
and/or
Lack of lubrication on the axis screws

I think you're supposed to spray the slides and screws with SwanSlip every week or so
