Orac Electrics Upgrade

Post by Calgone » Thu 19 Jun , 2014 14:09 pm

Hi All :delirious: ,
I have a denford Orac Lathe that I have rebuilt mechanically.
But the electrics are getting old and temperamental.
After a little research I see that converting the old electrics over to new would not take a lot.
The basics that I would require are:
2 x Geckodrives (Not sure what ones)
1 x Breakout Board (Not sure what one – CNC4PC?)
2 x Servo or Stepper drives (Old ones still work)
1 x Spindle speed controller (Old spindle drive works ok)

Has anyone got a full description on parts and/or connections for converting this machine over to new electrics to run on Mach3 or Mach4?

Would I be better changing the stepper motors to new ones at the same time or keeping the old ones? :loads-a-money:

Any help would be great.
Thanks
