Novamill capabilities

Post by edwardsjc » Wed 18 Mar , 2015 0:14 am

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a Novamill for model engineering , building7.25" steam locomotives. Typically I'll be working with mild steel, cast iron and brass. Assuming the workpiece will fit on the table, is a Novamill capable of machining these materials or am I expecting too much from a machine of this size ?

I know some of the larger components will be too big for the table, but I can do these on my larger manual mill.

Thanks

Jason

The Nova Mill will be fine for those materials.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback, so I've now bought the machine.

I'm at the bottom of the learning curve, so its up from here on !

Thanks

I raised the column on my Novamill by about 70mm as there was not much room for a workpiece once a vice went on especially if you use the easy change system (which is great for quick tool change!). I think the drawing for the raising block is on here somewhere.
