Ballscrew Lubrication - which oil ?

Post by flyingmike » Wed 04 Apr , 2012 10:08 am

Morning!

I have two machines now...I novamill and a starturn. I was wondering what the best lubrication for the ballscrews was and where I could get it from? Do you guys go for oil or grease?

Thanks

Mike

Novamill Slideway and ballscrew oil:
BP CS 68
Shell : Vitrea 68
Castrol : Perfecto NN

Rs have something which looks right:

On the newer machines we just use a lithiuim grease on the ball nuts and screws- because we use linear bearings now and not slideways/dovetails.

(This was asked a couple of weeks ago, so I'll make this post sticky)
