Make sure there is no debris / dirt behind that acuator arm of the datum switch. If there is give it a good clean and try homing again

In that case it sounds like a broken wire. In the electrical panel you will see a PCB with a 7 segment display on it, on the bottom Right Hand Side of the PCB that the 7 segment display PCB is plugged into you will see a Orange (Or Black on later models) socket with 4 wires on it. These wires are in pairs (Adjacent to each other) and go to the windings of the Z axis stepper motor. Pull the socket out of the PCB and with and Electrical meter set on continuity, put one probe on each of the pair of wires and check for continuity, move the wiring about and see if you get an open circuit, repeat on the other pair of wires

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.
