"Device Driver Call Failed"+Vacuum pump shuts off

Post by bradders » Thu 21 Jun , 2007 16:18 pm

The Vacuum pump shuts off and I get "Device Driver Call Failed" error on my Microrouter at random times, usually just when I am about to set my offsets

It would suggest that the MINT program has stopped running on the board with the 7 segment display, as this will switch the output off that activates the VPR (Vacuum Pump Relay)

Possible causes :-

1. Faulty Baldor board
2. Loose wire/s
3. Some sort of short in the wiring

"Device Driver Call Failed" error usually means that the MINT program has stopped running on the Baldor control board

Use Easyupgrader from the VR Milling CD or from Denford Website to update the firmware

Am out in Malaysia. Have 3 units failed with same alarm in this case the regulator on the bottom card of the nextmove has shutdown. The 7 seg display on the card switches off. After the 'driver call failed' message what is displayed in the 7 sement display?

Have just thought. If the regulator fails all the nextmove output including vac pump would fail if reg shutdown!

Steve,

This was an old post with the vac pump going off, the new enquiry came in yesterday and it was just the"Device Driver Call Failed". Is it a repair to the Baldor board to solve the problem ?

Hi,

This is a problem I have seen over here. There is a similar post in the malaysia VIP area.

The problem we had was that the nextmove power was shutting down completely. Get the customer to look at the nextmove next time it happens and see if the 7 seg display is still lit.

In our case it was not. It seems the regulator on the bottom card of the nextmove can shut down if it is overtemperature, over voltage or current limits.

We disconnected all the orange connectors other than the power and the board still shutdown after 5 - 10 mins proving it to be a board fault rather than an output dragging down the supply.

If the 7 seg display goes out then change the Nextmove bottom card.
