You may want to schedule a service call with an educational reseller if you feel too difficult to accomplish on your own.

Go to this website to view/download an exploded view of the mill.

The Brass Insert Nut is slipping in the carriage that is causing the problem.
The Brass Insert Nut PN 50200/51200 is secured with the set screw PN 40520 from the top of the carriage PN 50910.
This would require removing the Machine Table PN 67050 from the carriage to get to the set screw.

Remove the X axis stepper motor. You will need to connect to the machine and false home the machine with the “Secret Home Feature” (go to viewtopic.php?t=62&highlight=secret for more info on how to access this). Remove the plastic plug from the cone shaped motor adapter and use Jog to slowly turn the X axis lead screw to line the set screw up with the hole, loosen the set screw, unbolt and remove the stepper motor. Remove the bolt PN 67115 that holds the coupler PN 67105 & remove from the lead screw. Remove the 2 bolts PN 67111 that hold the motor mount PN 67102 & remove from the Machine Table.
Loosen the set screw PN 40600 on the back side of the carriage that holds the “L” shaped Gib adjustment wire PN 40820. Pull out the Gib strip PN 40980. The Machine Table will slide off of the Carriage.
The set screw for the Y axis Brass Insert Nut is in the top, center of the Carriage.

The brass insert nut has to be seated in the carriage then the set screw has to be slowly tightened while turning the lead screw by hand until the is a very slight bind felt on the lead screw, To tight and you will crush the brass insert nut. Medium strength thread lock (Blue Loctite) should be used on the set screw.

Use a small amount of moly grease on the lead screws and dove tail ways when reassembling the mill.
