Use the 9 pin to 25 pin black RS-232 cable (that came with the machine) to connect the machine to your computers comm. port.

Start the VR CNC Milling v2.31 software.
Left Click on the Setup tab – upper left side of the screen.
Select (left click) Setup Machine Parameters.
Enter the password denny (lower case) left click OK.
Scroll down the list of machine and find MICROMILL 2000 NS and Right Click on it.
Left click on Set As Active Machine, left click OK at the bottom of the window.
At the top left of the screen should be “Virtual Reality CNC Milling – MICROMILL 2000 NS”.

Now turn the power on to the machine. Make sure the Emergency Stop button is out. Turn the red knob of the switch and the button will pop out (look at the arrows on the switch, turn in that direction).
Turn the key in the key lock to the right and release, the key will return to center. The cabinet light and the cooling fan will come. Look into the back of the machine and you will see a green LED Status display, an “8”, “2” or “-“, will be showing.

With the mouse click on the Machine tab on the right hand side of the screen, a window will pop-up showing the flash is being loaded.
The Control Panel will pop-up on screen, you can Home the machine (the borders around the X Y & Z buttons will be red). You can home one axis at a time – ALWAYS START WITH Z or you can click on the Home All tab, the Z will home first then X & Y together ( the borders will turn green as each axis is at home). After the machine homes the JOG, AUTO & MDI tabs will appear next to the Home tab.
Click on the JOG tab, with your mouse you can click and drag the sliders to adjust the Feed Rate (numbers = feed rate) and Spindle Speed (numbers =RPM). Use the Arrow Keys to jog the X & Y axis (the table will move opposite the arrow key direction – think of it as “Moving the cutter into the material”) and the Page Up/Down keys for the Z.

To turn On the spindle motor, left click on M Codes button and left click on M3-Spindle Forward.
To turn Off the spindle, left click on the “X” button just above the spindle slider bar or click on M Codes and M5-Spindle Stop or lift the Guard open. There is a safety on the guard and the spindle will not operate with the guard open. You can Jog the machine with the guard open but it will be at a much slower rate.

The manuals and quick start-up guide will go through the rest of the machine set up.

When you are using VR Milling v5.19, click on the Setup tab and select Select Machine, left click on MICROMILL and left click OK. The control panel will look a little different, operation is about the same.
