Micromill Spindle Motor Stopped

Post by boots » Thu 15 Nov , 2007 17:45 pm

Micromill Std.

Turned spindle switch to "ON" position and spindle motor "stuttered" on-off. Turning spindle switch on & off several times seemed to help.
Now the spindle will not turn on at all.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The switch, the spindle motor, the fuse or the spindle speed knob control may have gone bad.

Check/replace the spindle fuse first, also check for any loose or cracked wires in the spindle circuit.
Check voltage at the spindle speed control card with a volt/ohm meter.
I checked the voltage on a machine here at the shop.
118vAC Wall Outlet
118vAC L1 L2 (Blue & Brown wires) on Spindle Speed Card
129vDC A+ A- (Red & Black wires) on Spindle Speed Card, with the speed set at 100% on the Control Panel and the Spindle Speed Override Knob turn all the way to the right. I also checked AC across these wires and read 13vAC.
I’m sure your voltages may not be the same, but it should give you an idea of what to look for.
