Buffer Overflow

Post by ar89 » Mon 13 Jun , 2011 19:38 pm

Hi,

I have a Denford TRIAC Slanted Bed Lathe Machine with a Fanuc 21i controller.

When i try to download a program from my computer to machine i get an alarm stating "Buffer Overflow".
This alarm only comes when i download G-code generated by ProE or some other CAM software.

Kindly, if anyone can help me out!!! I'll be grateful

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Hi,

I'm guessing this is a Cyclone as the Triac is a milling machine ?

Buffer overflow means that the PC has sent too much data, too quickly.
This can be because the host software does not properly talk to the control (eg, the control says "hold on a minute while I check that data" but the PC carries on sending regardless) or because the cable does not have enough pins connected to handshake properly.
To get around it, I'd set the baud rate to 300 baud and try again.

This error may also mean that the fanuc hasn't enough memory to hold the program, but that would be easy enough to check
