Why use the secret Home button?

Post by Steve » Thu 02 Mar , 2006 14:40 pm

The reason you may want to do this is normally for fault diagnosis reasons.

If a machine will not go to home for some reason. It could be that there is a piece of work jamming the slide or a build up of swarf. You may want to jog the slide away from home to allow you to clear the obstruction.

By pressing the secret button you are allowed to get into Jog mode without going through the home procedure.

Once you have resolved the problem you should go back to HOME and HOME ALL AXES before operating the machine :!:

Never operate the machine in Auto mode without homing the slide as the position the slide is in when you click the magic button is where the home position would have been set :!: :!: :!:

I am impressed.

Does it work if I hit the E-Button? My new users always stuck, when they hit the E-Button.
Best regards,

Hitting e.stop will always force the software into HOME mode - this is because under emergency stop, the axis positions are cleared.

It will be possible to use secret home once emergency stop is released.
Note that this function should only be used if there has been an accident with the machine, and an axis needs moving before it can home out as normal.
