Triton Communications error

I am connecting a PC to the Triton. I have installed the software V2.31 and I get a communications error wheh I selest the machine.
The PC com port is set for port 3/19200, the Tritor com port is set at port/19200 and the I/O port is set to port 5. Serial cable from 9 pin on PC to 25 pin on Triton.
Any suggestions?

You should not have to set any of the coms it should be all automatic.

Has the machine worked on another PC?

Is the RS232 cable the origional one? It should be black (with a lindy lable on it.)

The controller will scan all com ports for a control card as it starts up then if it does not find one it will show an isolator symbol and give the RS232 power lable.

Can you open the back of the machine and look inside. the controller card has a 7 segment display on it and it should be lit. The number tells us what is happening.

In short:

It could be the RS232 cable, The controller card may be faulty or the card may not be powered up. (could be a fault on the logic supply)

Could be a faulty port on the PC.

Thank you for getting back to to.
The cable is a home made cable that has worked in the past.
Also in the past we had to set the port numbers and baud rate at 19200.
PC has been re-imaged and the Denford software had to be installed.

I logged into the PC (local machine) as admin and installed the software. When I login as a students (network login) is get a write to default error when opening the Denford program.

I have not looked at the circuit board stastus but will do that.

I hope this helps paint a better picture as to what is going on here.

Seems like the last time you had problems it was the Roland software causing a conflict on the COM ports.. could it be that again?
