Microrouter V4 Pro NS V5 software upgrade issues

Post by davidm50 » Fri 24 Mar , 2006 15:28 pm

We have installed a new usb port and card in our card Microrouter V4 Pro NS, upgraded the software to V5 (Ver.5.12.0.304) on a local machine (The software was installed on the administrator log on, we are using a user log on). The O/S is XP Professional. We have encountered the following issues since.
In the select machine menu the Microrouter Pro NS is not there. If we select Microrouter Pro the machine runs too fast, if we select Microrouter it seems ok but a little slow.

Error messages
1. At the launch of v5 software “Warning the following files are not present Work Offset File Tool Offset File Tool Library File”
2. “Unable to write to C:\ Documents and Settings \All Users\Application Data\Denford\Just installed.ini.”
3. After imputing offsets “Error Unable to write to”

Does the editor window enlarge as in previous versions?

Check one of the axes is moving the correct amount.
The PRO machine uses micro-stepping (10 X) and the standard machine is half-stepping(1 X). You will be able to see then if you have the correct machine selected in the software.

The other problems are due to user log in - files not available and user permissions. Users must be able to write to AllUsers folder which is where offsets are stored. You can change this in VRMilling5.ini which will be in current user\appdata\denford ...
If it isn't, then its using the original version which is in \program files (normally copied to userdata, if one was not already found there)

If the files have not installed or disappeared because of lack of permission, then look on the CD - the install has the files located in the directories in which they should be installed into.

The editor has changed to improve machining speed by having faster update, and the freeze button which stops the editor updating at all.
It uses the new fixed length one by default, however you can get the fully featured colour-coded editor back by going to menu File-> Source -> Full Editor.

Hope this makes things a bit clearer
