QuickCAM 2D with Windows XP - problems

Post by arossner » Wed 21 Mar , 2007 13:35 pm

We are having trouble getting QuickCAM 2D and 3D V3 to run after loading a computer lab that has Windows XP pro. We load the software on each individual computer when logged in as an administrator; The software runs perfect. But, when logged in as a Student without access to the C: drive or hard drive; the software will not run and looks for the Security key file. When we point the software to the location of the security file it won't allow access to the c: drive.

How do we get around this problem? We can't have students logging in as administrators and having access to files in the C: drive.

Help :!:

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

The first thing the software does is look inside the directory where the .exe file is located for the SecKey.tff file. If its not there, it will struggle to find it.

I guess if you are running in a different location to the normal C:\Program Files\Denford\QuickCAM2D ie, from a network, you need to check (or create) the shortcut to the app, and make sure the "Start In" directory is also set to the same as the program .exe file
Could it be something to do with the network msi / network application package which is not including the SecKey.tff file from the licence disk ?

Hope this helps toward finding a solution.
