Changing settings (cut vs raster) without wanting to

Post by Mark Langford » Tue 23 Apr , 2013 16:30 pm

So, I have a shape I drew in LaserCAM 2D, made of straight lines and circles.

I exploded the circles during drawing, to delete part of them.

I sent the file to our Universal cutter (3.5).

In the original file, the shape is drawn in red to cut.
In print preview, the shape is red to cut.
In the actual control panel, as it runs, the curves are drawn black, and only raster.

Any clues why, and how can I fix it? I have tried saving & reloading the files, restarting the software.

Thanks.

The pallete in LaserCAM defaults to offer you only Blue, Black and Red.
If you've picked from another pallete and its not 100% red then the Universal software will not recognise it as a cut line.
If you're sure it's 100% red you have used then there must be an issue with the Universal printer driver.

The other option would be the line thickness. Make sure it's a hairline otherwise the driver will see it as a black raster engrave.

From Lasercam, there is no option to change line thickness so it can't be that.
Although it's worth knowing about from other packages like CorelDraw - the line thickness has to be Zero
