WANTED: Denford Cyclone F

I'd like a cyclone with Fanuc control & 35mm through the bore.

I have a budget of £3-4k depending on condition, tooling etc

Anything considered.

I'd quite like a Triac with ATC too. Similar budget.

EasiTurn 3 Backlash Adjustment?

Do any of you have assembly drawings or photos of the cross slide assembly to see if adjusting the backlash is even possible? There is a thread about EasiMills which shows the ballnuts and says they are not adjustable. I don't really want to strip the machine just to find out it's impossible! The ma...

Re: CNC Virgin

The CNC4PC board will talk directly to the original stepper drivers without a problem. You need to identify which pins on the drivers are step, direction and ground then trace these through whatever lead connected these to the original computer board. It might be best to buy a socket, solder it to a...

A couple of photos: http://www.x-eng.co.uk/images/cnc/ATC%20Side.jpg http://www.x-eng.co.uk/images/cnc/ATC%20Bottom.jpg Note that although it is supplied with the original lead to plug in to the cross slide, the wiring is not compatible with the original. Don't plug it in unless you have modified th...

Re: Easiturn power chuck wanted

The chuck is a Pratt Burnerd 1740-01710 6 1/2" diameter with 1 1/2" Bore. The overall diameter of the pneumatic manifold is 9". http://www.x-eng.co.uk/images/cnc/Power%20Chuck.jpg It has two sets of soft jaws, one of which has been machined to grip circular section bar. The other has flat ends - rea...

Re: 4th Axis / Indexer

It is!

It's a 125mm HBM chuck. The back of the chuck is threaded to screw on to a Myford (and obviously the Indexer has a Myford thread sticking out)

Re: Easiturn power chuck wanted

The chuck has a pneumatic line to open/close the jaws. You will need to arrange your own pneumatic valves / air source. There is a spigot which sticks out of the bottom of the chuck to hold part of it stationary while the remainder rotates. You need to fabricate a fork to receive this as you slide t...

4th Axis / Indexer

I have an indexing head / 4th axis built out of a Myford Indexing head using a stepper motor. Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=ULxXWeEWQryGc&v=xXWeEWQryGc It works pretty well and has been used successfully for gear cutting amongst other things. It is not compl...

Auto Tool Changer for Easiturn

I have an ATC that has been modified to work with Mach3 using a stepper motor instead of the original DC motor. Mechanically it's all there - but came to me without the encoder disk nor the electronics. I needed an ATC for a job so converted it (sympathetically) to a stepper motor. There is a bit of...

Re: Easiturn power chuck wanted

I have one! I've never used it - other than connecting it up to an air supply to see if it works (and it does).

It's in pretty good condition.

Make me an offer! (probably best by PM)

Re: Easiturn3 X axis cross slide miss positioning.

It could be bearings or corrosion, but that would tend to lead to stiff spots as you rotate the shaft. What you describe sounds like free spots. It could be that there is a load of resistance except in a couple of places where it is easier to turn - which I suppose could give the same effect. It wou...

Re: Easiturn Mach3 Conversion Blog

With an external motion controller (there's one called kflop that looks tasty), this problem is overcome, but at some point the cost starts approaching that of true closed loop retrofit systems. I've used a Smoothstepper motion controller - which is pretty good and only £159. It has a couple of ann...

Re: Easiturn Mach3 Conversion Blog

It had a Heidenhain 370 controller with enough memory for about 3000 lines of code. Some people like the Heidenhain Conversational mode programming - but I found it pretty clunky and easier to code jobs directly in G Code. I use SolidCam - but had to be quite careful about program sizes and chop job...

Re: Easiturn Mach3 Conversion Blog

I've been using the lathe with mach for a couple of years now - and it's brilliant! The problem I had above is easily sorted - there is a setting in the general config screen (bottom left of the screen) which is something like "Forget offsets on program end" (and ruin next job when you forget it's f...

Re: Small mill carcass needed - don't need quill or electronics

I agree - but my whole Triac cost me less than the mechanical kit for a RepRap. For that matter, so did our current Bridgeport Interract. The chap who had the novamill carcass only wanted a couple of hundred quid for it - which seems like a reasonable way to go. I then get the option to use it for P...

Re: Small mill carcass needed - don't need quill or electronics

No definite budget. I was trying to avoid the RepRap style machines. In order to be self replicating - they compromise accuracy and rigidity. I've had a couple of Denford machines now (Easiturn and Triac) and have been impressed with how accurate they are with relatively simple (read adaptable) cons...

Small mill carcass needed - don't need quill or electronics

I'm looking to build a custom 3D deposition printer and figured that the best place to start would be a desk-top mill. I've been kicking myself as I was offered a Novamill carcass last year - but couldn't think of a use for it! I need something that uses stepper motors to move the X,Y & Z axes. It d...
