Hi

I have always replaced the cards under the above fault condition.

The pot is normally used to set the lower speed & then max speed is set on the drive.

Sounds like the control card has failed. Should be around 10 volts dc on 2 & 3 when top speed is requested.

From what you are saying it looks like the analogue voltage going in to pins 2 & 3 has failed. Did you check while requesting the spindle to run at top speed with the speed overide pot turned up to 100%. You can check the drive by fitting a potentiometer accross pins 1,2,3 on the spindle drive board...

It may be worth checking the inputs & outputs on the spindle drive first. If the brushess are worn then you will still see the correct DC output from the spindle drive. The drive is normally in the bottom right hand corner of the electrical box. Pins 2 & 3 are the analogue voltage. (0 to 10 volts DC...

Hi,
There should only be one Luberication pump. It will have a 4mm oil pipe & a plastic shrouded 10mm flexible conduit which contains the electrical connections.
It is normally fitted at the back of the machine & contains a float to register when emty.

What happens when you run the program? (what line does the program stop on?)
Is the toolchanger fully up & out?
Is there any oil in the Luberication Tank?

You will need to input the 900 parameters then the full parameters & the 450 diagnostics. If you have a serial number it may be possible to locate a complete set for your machine in the Denford archives.

From what you are reporting it now sounds as if you are missing a phase to the stepper motors or the drive card is faulty.

Try measureing the resistance of each pair of windings. Should be around 2 ohms & open between pairs.

The easiest way to sort it out is to swap the polarity on a phase to each of the stepper moters.

If they are wired in colours the Black & Orange will be one side & yellow & red the other.

Therfore change swap the Black & Orange over.

The overtravels should be clear.

Take a look at the fuses & 5 & 12 volt LED`s inside the control.
The cover around the control slides off & the power supply is the card in the centre looking from the top. The LED`s are near the top.

Cyclone Fanuc OTA, X axis judders & alarm 414

When homing the X axis on Cyclone Fanuc OTA fitted with Norwin drives the X axis judders quite rapidly & then trips out the fanuc control with alarm message 414.
The x axis moves freely when the drives are off & turned at the pulley.

The Denford toolpost fitted on the Orac Lathe was produced by denfords. It is fitted with a DC motor that drives a worm gear via a small gearbox. When the turret rotates 24 Volts DC is applied. When it reaches the requested position the polarity is then reversed & dropped to 12 Volts. This is then h...
