Re: Arc Problem
I have to admit, my knowledge is quite limited, I've only ever used Pro desktop/engineer and techsoft 2d design tools. Used to do a lot of 3D work using Denfords post processor and VR2 (many years of successful 3D models for students in school) 2D stuff was produced with in 2D Design and again many ...

Re: Arc Problem
Are you importing DXF to VR5 and getting it to do the G code? If so you would think that VR5 would only use valid codes for the machine. Having said that I have thought some of the things in VR5 and its post processing compared to VR2 and associated software produced different files/code for the sam...

Re: cuttting plastazote foam sheet.
I think you have the latter laser than we do (we have the VL300) it has very limited settings. One problem I found is that when you cut plastazote it 'creeps back' giving an enlarged 'V' cut so you end up with a piece smaller than say if you cut the same design from acrylic. The way round this I fou...

Re: Micromill is going to kill me!
Looking at that I would guess the battery has had a leak as it would appear that there could be corrosion It's that or it could be some form of water/moisture/condensation damage. They used to use those batteries in PC's 'back in the day' before moving onto coin cells. You could try some IPA (not be...

Re: Cant datum axes on Starturn (black box with LCB3 control
I have a friend with the denford tutor keyboard, if it's any help? Like mine it is actually for the starmill but I have just printed the starturn overlay on printable vinyl and stuck it on.

Re: Cant datum axes on Starturn (black box with LCB3 control
Hi, have a search for my posts. I have the Starturn 5 and went through a lot when I was getting it set up. Not able to get to my info for a while.
Hope that helps

Re: loose E stop button
I take it that will be accessed from underneath? ill slide it to the end of the bench and have a look. Fired it up and moved it about a bit today. nice smooth machine, doesn't seem to have the same level of Z travel as the micromill, I did read somewhere on here that someone had put a block in the r...

loose E stop button
hi folks, just picked up a 2003 Novamill for work, the E stop button is loose. I've not had chance to investigate further but wondered if this was a common problem/how do I tighten it up?
Cheers

Re: parts of drawing missing
from experience of machining 3d designs where a hole is the same dia as the cutter I have never had any success. I have always thought the post processors could do with being a bit clever and be able to identify a hole and to carry out a plunge/drill process rather than trying to carry out the proce...

Re: New Owner of MicroMill 2000, HELP!
You can just add the licence into the program, there is a thread on here somewhere that tells you how BUT Im sure you need you licence file off the disk to do it. I have 3.5" FDDs here and could pull the file off if you want me to (you would need to post the disk and I would post back). The file is ...

Re: batch production using Solidworks & Microrouter
I presume you have done a drawing for a part and now you want to tessellate them onto a sheet so you can do more than one at a time (as you say easy in 2D design). In ProDesktop you could copy and paste within a drawing so you could have a part and drop another next to it on the same work plane, is ...

Re: 2004 versa laser VL-300
We have one at our school. To test if it is OK you need to try cutting some material. We had to replace the laser a year ago as it no longer was cutting through (same age as that one) so I would factor in a replacement at some point soon around £1100.

are you using a single flute cutter? It has been a while since I machined any but remember I got best results with one.

Re: NextMove ST: Controlling SOUT via PWM to bottom card?
Brilliant info!! I was wondering about the noise on the spindle motor as it was suggested that some of the issues I have with the units at work where it looses position could be down to aging motors and more noise. I was wondering about adding suppression to the motor.

Re: New, with a MIRAC
You need to get the cases open and check the actual software version on the eproms. If it is late enough (I think ver2.2) you can run the micromill on the latest VR5, not sure on the mirac. Someone 'official' will hopefully be along soon with firm knowledge on the version required. I run 2 Micromill...

Re: Den-Step top board no LED
worth bypassing all the cables and making up an RS232 lead 9pin to 9 pin that plugs direct to the board. There is a thread somewhere on here with the pin out. Have you tried cleaning up the corroded area with IPA and a tooth brush? (not beer, Isopropanol Alcohol). Have you checked V5 will work with ...
