We have one at our school. To test if it is OK you need to try cutting some material. We had to replace the laser a year ago as it no longer was cutting through (same age as that one) so I would factor in a replacement at some point soon around £1100.

Brilliant info!! I was wondering about the noise on the spindle motor as it was suggested that some of the issues I have with the units at work where it looses position could be down to aging motors and more noise. I was wondering about adding suppression to the motor.

You need to get the cases open and check the actual software version on the eproms. If it is late enough (I think ver2.2) you can run the micromill on the latest VR5, not sure on the mirac.
