Re: novamill atc retrofit
Hi Does anybody know if the Novamill head/z-carriage was redesigned at any point? The artwork for the plate that fits onto the head was altered at some point (shown in the revision notes) and in my case, this revised artwork appears too small. I've had a plate laser cut, but doesn't appear to be bi...

Connecting a coolant air valve solenoid for a "Fogbuster"
Hi Folks, Hoping to get confirmation on controlling coolant on my Novaturn. I'm intending to use a "Fogbuster" style coolant spray when machining aluminium thus eliminating any issues with getting the machine drenched in coolant. From the schematics I believe from NVT-D5 that TB3 Output number 2 is ...

Novamill tool-changer interface
Hi Folks, I'm running a Novamill with Win 2K VR Milling v2.32, and I'm designing a DIY toolchanger. Is there any details availble on how VR Milling v2.32 and the control box communicate with to a toolchanger? Obviously the hardware is only half of the solution, it needs to talk to the controller too...

Autodesk Fusion 360 - Denford Post
Hi Folks,
I'm running a Novaturn + Toolchange with DOS FLSTEP and a Novamill with Win 2K VR Milling v2.32, is the Denford post processor option in Autodesk Fusion 360 fully compatible?
As always any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Is there any way to run FLSTEP without my novaturn connected
Starting to use the lathe a fair bit recently, but it'd be great to be able to simulate without the machine attached.

Re: Can I transfer my Novamill control card to a novaturn?
I have a couple of later eprom chips, but the key thing is my series 2 VR Milling licence won't work with VR Turning.
Thanks for the info.

The turn card is fine. Was just wondering if I could do the upgrade. I guess the most applicable question is will my VR Milling licence work with VR Turning?

Re: Novamill controler conversion EStop and Hood open pins
Been busy making stuff lately and forgot to come back to complete this thread, I bought a bespoke 3D printer so the Novamill is a mill again. Here is an image of the final conversion. 20160912_201857.jpg 20160912_201932.jpg The controller is a USB CNC clone, the Red daughter boards are 4 channel opt...

Can I transfer my Novamill control card to a novaturn?
Hi, I've fitted a modern control card to my novamill and was wondering if I can use my old novamill control card in my novaturn with my existing vrmillingv2.32 or vrturningv1_47 software and my novamill dongle / licence file? I'm using FLstep on the novamill at the moment (with an old win 98 toughbo...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
OK that looks great and the linked information has sent me in an equivalent direction. I have a few more of the opto-isolating boards left (I bought a job lot from China) so will isolate digitally from a PWM spindle signal (the controller can do 0-10v or Radio Control PWM) then use the +10v and grou...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Hi Folks, This is definitely a timely thread for me. I'm "upgrading" my novamill to run on a Chinese USB CNC controller card and finally got round to testing the spindle yesterday. Everything except 24v supply and the spindle drive signal is opto-isolated and interfaced via the 96 way header. This h...

Re: Novamill controler conversion EStop and Hood open pins
Thanks Agel Tech, But I want the interlocks working and to understand how they actually work too, so I could do with understanding which pins on the header will allow me to identify the hood open condition and if the hardware will also prevent the spindle from running if the hood is up :-) cheers BPM

Novamill controler conversion EStop and Hood open pins
Hi folks, I've been using my novamill for a while as a 3d printer with a 4 axis USBCNC control card and an extra stepper driver. I'll shortly be wanting to do some machining so need to get the interlock sorted for the spindle and hood. From memory I use the Stop pin on the 96 way header (a25) to pau...

Novamill headstock slight squeak when spinning off load...
Hi, My Novamill headstock has a very slight squeak when spinning off load, usually after doing a latteral cutting move. Is this an issue? If so is it likely to be the headstock bearings beginning to go, the drive belt running slightly out of line, or could it be dust in any headstock associated seal...

Thanks CNC Guru, Having finally got round to reviewing the content of the drawings, am I correct in assuming that all I need to do is close the toolpost control card (in the big black box?) connections TPFR circuit (6 and 7) until the outer middle and inner sensors (control box cores 92, 93 and 94) ...

Help - 96 Way Din connetions for common anode control card
Hi Folks, I've been merrily working towards a usbcnc conversion for my Novamill and may have come across a snag. The control card I have uses common anode connections i.e. the +5v is fixed / common and the ground is active ( http://www.planet-cnc.com/faq/driver_opto/ ) to drive opto isolated inputs ...
