Re: powder caoting lathe
Hi all, Just a quick one,.. while i am refurbishing my orac, i have powder coated the guards covers and cross slide apron, they have all turned out great.. does anyone know if 200 deg/c for 20 mins would hurt the bedways?? i.e. would it warp them or would be ok if i kept the frame the right way up ...

Re: Triac NEE software?
Thanks. I am looking to buy some software which would allow me to create a model of what I am hoping to machine, and generate a gcode program that I could then use by saving to a disk, opening in the text editor, and run on the machine. Is this possible, and which software would be applicable? The ...

Re: COMPRESSOR FOR TRIAC ATC
Hi all, can anyone tell me what the air demand is to run the atc on a Triac and any recommendations on which compressors do the job nicely, preferably a quiet running type! Thankyou, Rich. I use one of these http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/shhh-air-compressor-524 very, very quiet,...

Re: Denford TU150P 0T-C Problem
Hi Rob The problem is actually that the machine will not return all the way home so I can't try any toolchange using MDI. It is falling just short. This does sound like some kind of obstruction but not sure where. I don't think sticking limit switch as that gives the over travel alarm condition. To...

Re: Denford TU150P 0T-C Problem
. Have you tried to do tool changes using the MDI ? If not then home your machine and then try and do a couple of different turret positions and then do one for T6 and physically check that the turret has locked back into position correctly. I have had similar issues and it has just been a case of t...

Re: Denford TU150P 0T-C Problem
Hi I have been running batch of parts and in the middle of one cycle, the machine has just suddenly stopped on it's way back to toolchange and the control is flashing <Not ready> and the green ON button is flashing continually. I've switched the control (and the machine) on/ off a few times but the...

Re: I need help with an 8 station Orac Tool Turret
i think mach turn needs the tool offset added to the tool number. Is this the reason for the repeating tool number? IE: M06T0303 ? cheers, v In addition to "angel-tech" some machines will also have an extra 03 for the TNR (Tool Nose Radius) settings, pretty standard on all the older Fanuc controls ...

Re: Triac fanuc advice/project help
The whole Fanuc AC servo setup eliminates any kind of drift, lag, brushes etc, the system uses encoders on the motors not tachos and the encoder signals are fed back directly to the Fanuc main board which gives a full closed loop system which is constantly monitored by the Fanuc, also all the veloc...

Re: Triac fanuc advice/project help
the motors may well be 3 phase driven, but the drivers are run off single phase. That's right - the Fanuc drives were always 3-phase Input supply and 3-phase Output to motors. As for the Triac Servo machine - it's possible to get servo drivers which accept step+direction input so if you can find so...

Re: Triac fanuc advice/project help
Hi Tom Quite possibly brushless DC motors, if so then yes, the drives would likely be 240V single phase in and and out, also probably runs sinusidal commutation from the motion control card. I have a set of 3 Aerotech DC brushless motors and drives with a 4 axis motion control card, I/O board and Op...

Re: Triac fanuc advice/project help
Normally on AC Servo motors the motors themselves are 3 phase, often the drives will accept either single phase or 3 phase in but the output to the motors is normally 3 phase. That would mean changing both the motors and drives, pretty expensive. If memory serves me right the Fanuc control doesn`t o...

Re: Alarms 1008, 401, 414 & 424
Bob Have you checked the output of the low voltage power supply, I seem to remember that the 1008 spindle error shows when the low volt control voltage is down, means there are no voltages for the Fanuc to check at the axis limits and it checks things in a specific order. Which can mean that the err...

Re: problems with triac fanuc atc
Hi, Is the neutral actually connected? Three phase motors don't usually need a neutral phase but if there are any single phase loads then one is needed. The neutral is connected to earth somewhere in an electrical supply and yours can't be connect if there is 400volts on it. K Dickinson Keith The N...

Hi Bob It is a pretty big casting that mounts to the 3 machined faces along the front of the main casting and also sits on top of them. Re: Homeless parameter?
My 2 cents worth   You have to set up your machine offsets first, most used method is to "touch off" your piece of stock on both the X and Z axis and input the the offset values to the machine offset screen. "MENU OFSET" key on your top right keypad to get to the machine offset scr...

Saw this auto tool changer for small lathe on ebay, thought it might be of interest to Orac owners.
