Re: Yep, another machine can't connect
This may or may not be the problem and likely not someting you want to hear but in my experience with the older technology removing the label on an EPROM results in the EPROM being completely erased, they aren`t supposed to get light in the little window that is normally covered by the Label as far ...

Re: For Sale - Lathe ATC suit Orac
Hi, it isn`t very big, quite a compact unit, it is a "front" type ATC.
I will go down the Unit tomorrow and get some measurements for you.

Re: For Sale - Lathe ATC suit Orac
I know that this is a old post, but Lone_Ranger, did you ever sell it? Iron-Man Hi, no I didn`t sell it, just put it back on the shelf as I was going to buy another Orac and do a full conversion to all modern electrics and CSMIO motion control system but the deal on the lathe fell through so I stil...

Re: Denford Cyclone -turret positioning error
Regarding the Spindle 1008 error message that will quite possibly be a "peripheral" that is causing that, Fanuc does a sequential test of everything on the machine at start up and will show an error for the NEXT item on it`s list because it has found an issue and hasn`t been able to test the next it...

Re: Chess Pieces - Pawn
Hmmm, sounds a little like the possibility of some confusion here regarding the use of "Radius" and "Diameter" modes, also the feeds seem to be quite OK, F100mm/minute is quite slow, the F1000 moves should be rapids between cuts ? ? I had an Orac that I sold last year and that was on all the origina...

Re: Mach4 Conversation - Gecko G540 - Smoothstepper
Dubstar, So if you take your OHM meter across the 0V and 0-10V on the sprint card it smooths out? That's really interesting and makes me believe it would be noise also? I did have something interesting happen the other day related to this topic. As you know I upgraded my homing sensors and everythi...

Re: Wanted: EasyChange toolholders
I have recently bought and begun converting a starmill PC and it only came with one toolholder. Ideally looking for a few more end mill holders. Plenty here if you don`t mind buying brand new :D :D http://www.rotagriponline.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=173&Itemid...
Re: triac atc
sorry yes thats the motor. tach on top and a proximity on spindle i asume for the atc ref. From what I know of the Triac machines I have to agree with "moray", I don`t know of any Triacs with Seimens Spindle motors, all the ones I have ever seen have had Lenze or SEM brushed DC motor as "Martin" ha...

Hi All, First post :D I have an orac that has been modernised (original steppers and spindle motor, new stepper drivers , connected via b.o.b to parallel port, and an inverter for the spindle motor) and using linuxcnc as the control software. I'm a newbie when it comes to cnc lathes but have experi...

Re: Mach4 Conversation - Gecko G540 - Smoothstepper
Hi again, I have tried everything I can to copy the files to a floppy, we are doing this via windows XP but the Denford is still only showing 'No system on disc'. not to sure which way to go now, do you all think its about time I starting to retro fit a CS Labs system?? Have you asked Denford how t...

Re: Mach4 Conversation - Gecko G540 - Smoothstepper
Hi all, I have obtained a Triac VMC with ATC I cannot get the onboard computer to go passed displaying 'NO SYSTEM ON DISC' so I think I need to retro fit a new system, looking on this thread it appears most are using the Gecko board to drive the steppers, my mill has servos with Baldor drivers does...
Re: Newby
Great, you have the big box so forget everything I wrote before :D :D Contact Denford with the Serial numbers of your machine as there may be a little difference in the software for the 8 pot tool changer like you have and the 6 pot one. Probably just a parameter change but small things like that ca...
Re: Newby
Hi Robert Not too hard to build a new controller, yes, you do appear to have the "Big Black Box" missing that has all the Motion Control system, power supplies, stepper drives and various fuse holders and relays etc, all the bits required to make the machine move :D OK, you will need a decent size c...

I have for sale a WillsonCNC ATC that will fit a Denford Orac Lathe (and some other small lathes) It is new condition as it has never been fitted to a machine, it was bought for a Denford Orac Lathe, I have sold the Lathe but the buyer didn`t want the ATC so here it is up for grabs. It has it`s own ...

Re: Wanted, early Triac x axis sensor bracket TR.1/413
Hi Ben I can let you have some Aluminium double angle that is the right shape to make a new bracket. To answer your other questions, the sensor in the head was for rpm checking, no temp sensing on the older Triac there was a hex head bolt screwed into the castleated nut that operated the sensor. Lat...

Re: Harrison TU150U with Baldor servo
I used to own 2 Denford Cyclone Lathes :) The X axis should show a movement of 2mm when a 1mm cut is programmed, this is because it is working in "diameter mode" which is correct as it should be showing the actual diameter of the material, remember a 1mm depth of cut (X axis movement) will in realit...
