Re: Schematic Circuit Diagrams for the Novaturn

I only see half of the denstep card and half of the nextstep terminal blocks, does anyone have the upper side of the denstep and the lowerside of the nextstep? I am looking for specifically how the speed/feed pots are set up

Re: "downgrading" from nextstep to denstep

Im concerned about this too: the novaturn says the control voltage is 24v, the micromill says 12v. I attached some pics of the serial plates that say this. and a pic of my dog

Re: "downgrading" from nextstep to denstep

Are the NS pots 12v? I would be concerned feeding 12v on the controller that expects 5v. Are the pots hooked to the controller or the spindle drivers? I assume feed is hooked to the controller, but speed I suppose could be wired either way

"downgrading" from nextstep to denstep

Without going in to the details of why, I am downgrading my novaturn ns from a Nextmove card, to a Denstep card. Will the DS Card control the lathe the same way as the NS? Will I need to specify the machine is a novaturn (no ns) to vr turning? Were the original (non ns) novaturns set up the same way...

Re: Thread cutting

what do you mean by "section" and "stop?" Something you may want to keep in mind is the delay for the spindle to settle into the correct speed for machining. It shouldn't be that much time, but if you are stopping it-maybe. The spindle controller will give it full power to get to speed, then dependi...

Wanted: Nextstep card

Hey All,
I am looking to add a 4th axis to a micromill 2000, but it sounds like the first card to have the option to add an axis was the nextstep. Anyways, I would love to find a card to swap in. Please let me know if you have cards from any retrofits.

Re: Fusion 360

Im afraid you are going to have to excuse my ignorance, but maybe this will help other noobies(like myself) that would love to generate tool paths inside F360. As I understand, this post processor will allow F360 to generate a machine specific, string of gcode. My question would be this: so long as ...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Yeah I had actually disconnected that to see what the component was, there are 2 of them with who knows what purpose. The original wiring diagrams for the entire cabinet are still in the door, so if anyone needs a copy of that or just wants a specific section let me know and ill grab a copy. Really ...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Thanks TDI, I definitey appreciate the good review of the VR software. I guess I will talk to denford to see what a set of both will set me back (assuming the mills are compatible with it, ill ask about the "BETA" chip) Any idea what this stuff costs? I am thinking some day soon I would plan to add ...

Re: New software or new controllers?

Hi TDI! I'm not at home to check the eeprom now, but the mills have the red 7segment display, so as I understand that is the denstep board. The novaturn has the Nextstep board, unfortunately it only has the db9 connector, but has the green 7seg, and the machine is called a novaturn ns on the tag... ...

New software or new controllers?

Hi all! So after winning a surplus auction, I am the proud owner of 2 micromill 2000s and a novaturn ns! I also have 7 floppy/cd sets, unfortunately none appear to contain security keys....(unless win10 just refuses to display them through my floppy reader..) Thats where I get into my question: can ...
