Without the steeper motor powered up you will be able to move the lead screw by hand but with it energised it should be solid.

Have you checked that all the cards are seated in the rack fully & that the ribbon cable from the euro card to the custom card is fully pushed in.

I don`t understand "i can activate and datum it manualy but get no movement at all from the x axis". Does that mean that the X axis Datums correctly or that the software can be tricked into thinking it has reached its datum position but that the motor does not turn? Is the X axis motor energised? Do...

The blue wires are terminated during manufacture but are from the X+ & X_ limit switch. The X axis datum is the proximity switch on the right.( thread showing). You should be able to test it by activating it with a piece of metal while performing a X axis datum request. It may be that the axis is mo...

We fitted two different lube pumps back then. It will have either a round silver handle on the top of the plunger or a black plastic handle. If it is the one with the silver top to the plunger you can adjust the stroke by turning the screw that is inside the plunger. You will need to remove the grub...

Hi Simon,

Yes the lube pump was activated by the spindle running. You can adjust the amount of oil by altering the stroke.

"drive fault in X"

Whitout the drives enabled there is no power to the stepper drive cards. Therfore the control does not recieve the correct fault signal from the drives.

From what I remember that is exactly how they allways operate.

Have you tried holding in the "Axis Limit Overide Switch"?

You need to keep it pressed in while you jog the axis away from which ever overtravel switch it is on. the easiest thing is to send it to the Datum position. The switch was normally fitted on the right hand side of the rear electrical box.

Each michine type selected in LatheCamDesigner can create its own file extension. You need to edit the "fanucl.ini" file Look in C:\Denford\Config You can open it with either Notepad or Word. In the fanucl.ini file there is a section for each machine. Go to the machine type you have & alter the line...

While in "T" test mode manually activate the datum sensor by placing a piece of metal over it & check if the datum changes. I am not sure which diagnostic is for which but you should be able to comare it to the X axis proximity sensor.

Have you tried the "T" test?

if you power up the control (PNC3) & then press the "T" it lets you in to the digagnostics page. You can then activate the datum the datum switch manually & check the inout.

I think we borrowed a programing unit to write the Fanuc Ladders on.

Not sure where it came from but pretty sure we have not had one for several years.

Sorry can`t help with the Tailstock.

The Zeroturn was a very strong machine & has much more power than the Cyclone. The main thing is to make sure it is in working order. Some of the Fanuc spares are quite expensive if they need to be replaced.

I can`t remember what we did on the PNC 3 Control.

Is there a menu that comes up if you press the "T" button once the axis have been datumed. From memory it then asks if & where the tool change is fitted.

The other thought is that it may run of the Auxillarys.
