Novaturn toolchanger - interface to mach / non Denford card
Hi all,
I'm looking at using a usbcnc controller in my novaturn, everthing looks good for the stepper drives and the spindle controller, but I dont know how the toolchanger is interfaced to the control card. Can anyone shed any light?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.

WANTED - USB control board for novaturn and novamill
having got familiar with denford software it seems a shame to move over to mach just to get a reduced machining time. So does anyone have a second hand USB board from a machine they've already converted? Denford, will i need to buy new SW or will my current dongle / key let me use the latest version...

Re: Novaturn Specification
Does anyone have a picture or drawing of the swarf tray? I'm guessing its just a rectanglular piece of formed sheet metal.

Re: Novaturn Specification
Thanks, One thing that caught my eye was that the extra equipent quoted spray mist coolant, I thought that the Novaturn and the Novamill wasnt good for use with coolant but perhapse I was wrong. Does anyone know what the spray mist coolant option was, and what coolant was specified? Cheers BPM

Re: Retrofitting CNC Mill and Lathe
Hi,
If you do remove the blador top boards for either the mill or lathe and have no further use for them I'd potentially be interested in them as spares for my machines.
Cheers

Re: Replacement Novaturn Chuck
Thanks, yeah i was thinking new jaws would need fettling to achieve a good runout, hence thinking more likely to get a fresh one with matched jaws.

Replacement Novaturn Chuck
What type or spec of chuck do i need to ge to replace the one on my novaturn, or can I get replace ment jaws? Its a 1999 spec machine. I dont have both sets of jaws with the machine and want to be able to clamp in both directions. I have the jaws that protrude more axially towards the centre of the ...

Novamill spindle speed audibly hunting...
Having replace my original control box with my spare, the spindle speed is hunting slightly (at 5000RPM not run it at a different speed as cut one part since) it's only notible audibly, but I was wondering if this may be a tel-tale of a potential failure, or may be related the spindle drive / contro...

Re: novaturn red 7 segment controller, spindle output blown?
OK appologies, I posted the start of the thread late at night and got a few things wrong... For starters its a 1999 novamill, not a novaturn, I beleive I have a denstep or smartstep board you can see a pic of one on this post http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=3370 so I dont know if t...

novaturn red 7 segment controller, spindle output blown?
hi all, the saga continues... I was merrily milling a part when there was a pop from the direction of the control box and the house rcd tripped. Afterresetting the rcd and backing out the tool from the billet (another broken cutter) i ran up my mill again and it appears the 0 - 10v output from the c...

Re: novaturn atc motor gearbox dying
Sucess, the price of a replacement motor made me think again. So ive machined the bearing seat deeper and fitter two bearings at the gearbox end. Smooth as silk now.
Thanks for the help.

Re: novaturn atc motor gearbox dying
OK bearing replaced but it looks like there is another one inside the motor that I cant get at so its alot better but still vibrating from time to time.
Is the Gearhead "ITP S/Turn GS38.0060" Denford Stock number is BI00302C still in stock and is it the motor and gearbox?
Cheers

Re: novaturn atc motor gearbox dying
Thanks folks, The voltages I've posted were taken from a multimeter across the disconnected motor supply wires so I believe them to be correct, unless not having the motor in circuit changes things at all. Maxon do seem to do an exquivalent dimension 24v motor but you don't want to know how much it ...

Re: novaturn atc motor gearbox dying
OK finally got fed up with the squealing so looked at this properly... The gearbox is fine and has previously been replaced with a maxton 110455 60:1 The motor however is not, the bearings have gone and it appears that to get the motor in the heat sink the label is removed so I dont know the specs. ...

Re: Novamill on Mach3
I'd agree VR milling 2 is perfectly good for hobby use when time isn't critical and you want to do 3d profiling. I've not used dos sw on my novamill, but i do use it on my novaturn and to be honest that is perfectly acceptable for hobby use too. So as i understand it youve got a large cost for mach ...
