What machine do you have? If the lock is steel or cast iron then a medium spindle speed would be best with a shallow depth of cut and a feedrate the machine sounds comfortable with. Try programming 400mm/min and use the Feed override to get a good result. If Aluminium run the spindle flat out and ag...

An alternative to changing the orientation in CHAM would be to reorientate the model in the CAD package. :? To do this open a new design. Create a solid base. Import the Co2 car and assemble to the base. Rotate to the apropriate angle that will import to CHAM. Once in the correct orientation delete ...

I have heard of AlphaCAM being used with denford routers.

I think it was a school making F1 cars but cannot remember who they were.

AlphaCAM would have a Post processor or the software will allow you to create one.

If you nead a post first try the Fanuc OM option and work from that.

WHAT TYPE OF METAL IS THE LOCK MADE OF?

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE A MACHINE?

TRY FILING THE METAL, IF IT WILL FILE AWAY THEN YOU COULD USE STANDARD MILLING CUTTERS.

IF YOU HAVE A GRINDER THIS MAY ALSO BE AN OPTION.

The Honeycomb bed is there to prevent splashback from the laser as it hits the cutting table. You could try raising up the material onto a sacrifice sheet of MDF or even on spacers so it is clear of the honeycomb. You would then have to change the material thickness to the new height above the table...

I think the 510 alarm may be the software limit and not related to the microswitch?

Does anyone remember. Have you checked the software limits are set in the parameters?

we normally use a 1N4003 or 1N4001. I still think that you should try linking out the input to the Microprocessor first and see if the problem diassapears then do the same at the relay end. If linking out the contact cures the problem at both ends then you have proved the relay contact is the proble...

What machine are you using? (what is the maximum spindle speed and feedrate you have available? What size cutter are you planning to use? Unless the foam is a very tight closed cell I think you will have trouble cutting it at all. I would run the spindle as fast as you can then program a move with t...

The E-stop relay shown has a 24v coil so the diagram shown is not the solution. :( I think the diagnosis you have that the problem is related to the spindle is correct. :) The E-stop relay feeds the controller input with a Normally open signal that closes as the E-Stop is released. It is possible th...

Vista with Pro/Desktop 8

There is already a thread on this.

I tried the method above but still had no joy.

In the end I ran in Win 95 mode then it worked after that it will run in any mode.

Its a bit of a mess to get working but once up it seems ok!

Prodesktop 8 Working with Vista

After some help from Mike Brown (PTC) I have got Pro/DESKTOP 8 to run. :D I had to create a new shortcut to the program and then in properties get it to run in a win 95 compatable way. :? I then set to work compatable with XP Service pack 2 and it would then run. We had tried starting at Win 98 as t...

A stepper motor can be used at any voltage up to the rated max. The higher the voltage the faster the current gets into the winding and the more power you get. The Stepper drivers chop at high frequency and as the current into the winding reaches the rated level it is limited until the chop frequenc...

If the machine is saying there is a move out of the machine limits this is what the problem is.

Is the fixture located in the center of the bed?

Is the datum position the centre of the car in the Y axis?

Are you using the same datum for both sides of the car?

Have you mirrored the correct axis?

what speeds and feeds are you running at? The centre of the cutter will have a lot slower surface speed than the diameter which will always make cutting in aluminium a little harder. I would try about 12000 RPM and look at 600 to 800mm/ min. Take the depth of cut to about 1 or 2 mm. Depending what y...

I am sure you can get an adaptor plate to make the chuck fit. Do you have an automatic toolchanger? If so you will have problems if you have any internal tools fitted in the turret disc as they will colide with the chuck jaws! If you take out the internal tools there is no reason why you cannot use ...

In addition to this since 1995 we have fitted a different transformer in the back of these machines. This splits off the logic supply 24V from the motor supply and allows us to drive the motors harder. The BI00811X will work for all types of car as it has the longest reach of all.

If using the 811F on R Type cars you have to use two cutting strategies one to rough some material away before finishing otherwise the cut depth can exceed the flute length of the cutter.
