Re: Novaturn ATC blowing fuse on startup

It will be marked in the drawings for the machine or maybe marked where the fuse mounts and should say the fuse value eg T500mA 250V or F500mA 250V ? The T means time delay or slow blow, F would mean Fast blow or Fast acting. M or no letter would indicate a normal speed. There is always the chance t...

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

Stalling at high speed if 1st sign you need to do a decent clean up.

The switches fail, If it starts to do this just replace them. I had it at work on a kids GCSE work (nice bit of oak, well it was).

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

No problem! always like to help. The machines don't have any form of positional feedback so only count the steps out and back from the zero point. On that it is worth noting that you should keep the lead screw 'nuts' clean and lubed on all axis. Lube the screws with silicone and let it dry on the sl...

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

Great stuff you got so much sorted. I have the porter cable spindle and haven't experience with the Kress ones. So to clarify machines homes, rear right corner (refer to this point as machine zero) move the Y gantry across in X fully to the left (X = 550) with the Spindle rear most in the machine (Y...

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

We have the vacuum bed and use this a lot of the time as it is quick. It is said that if you put a 6mm MDF sacrificial bed on top of that as it is porous it will pull down say another sheet of 18mm MDF on to so you can machine it. I have never tired it and tend to use double sided sticky tape, a few...

it would be worth posting up pics of what in the box, go through all the diagrams that are on here and get to know what you have. Work through things a stage at a time post up and we can help as much as possible

Re: Novamill Z travel

i have seen several posts/threads about spacer block but that just raises the head but doesn't extend the travel range. I think those that have used the spacer block were after a greater clearance with z all the way down. I think if it has the quick change tools you loose a fair bit of that clearanc...

Re: Axis autofocus probe

a simple way would be to use a feeler gauge (or piece of metal with a known thickness) wire from it to a 'black box' other wire from the 'black box' goes to a crock clip which is clipped onto the cutter. Inside the 'black box' is a simple battery, LED or buzzer setup. For Z height just lay the feele...

if you have a good dig through the novaturn and starurn posts you will find quite a bit on the ATC, from stripping them down to the electronics.

Good stuff, would it be VR2 and or VR5.

I had actually given up finding it, but got home from work yesterday and it was on my desk. My wife had found it in a box of my kids stuff!

Is a VL300 and drivers usable on 64bit win 10?

Ran into a problem at work today and the long and short of it is out IT guys say the PC attached to the VL 300 had to run 32bit rather than 64bit as the drivers will not work on a 64 bit win10 machine. A recent update had rolled out to the PCs on the network meant this messed up the laser PC as it i...

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

Think of 2D machining as scissors and paper, 3D playing with playdoh. SO 2D is you have a bit of 18mm MDF and cut an outline out of it (so just cutting out like you could with a jigsaw round the outline you want), where as 3d is you have a piece of 50mm MDF and get a full shape with curves and multi...

Re: Feed rates?

I run it all the time on the 2 machines at work and mine at home, your ears are your friend... if it sound rough dial it back on the over ride. So if you are doing a plunge/slot cut then I might dial it back a little then when it is up or down milling it will be fine on 50% step over
